Body Image and Disorder Eating
I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. Intuitive eating is all about you learning to trust yourself and your intuition about what's best for you. Through the practice of Intuitive Eating, we will help you build this trust through by identifying when you lost it, because I promise we’ve all had trust in ourselves and our choices with food at some point; and discovering what steps we need to help you get it back!
I am pursuing certification to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner through Somatic Experiencing International.
I have received training as an Embodied Life practitioner and I am already a 500 hour trained yoga instructor. I use somatic or body based techniques to support you in learning about how your body responds to stress and the expectations you place upon it. Then, you can use supportive practices to help you become more responsive to your body’s innate needs.
I also use values based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy, to help you identify what you value and how to live in a way that connects you with those values. That way, you can recognize you have so much more to bring to this world than the size and shape of your body!
As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, I stay up to date on the best practices in the field and complete continuing education to ensure my knowledge base is ever expanding.
*** Continuing education includes my commitment to hearing marginalized voices such as individuals identifying as trans, non-binary, neurodivergent, ethnic minorities, and in large bodies. I continue to learn how these groups are harmed by euro-normative expectations and my commitment is to continue to unlearn the things I’ve been taught that support systemic oppression.
